i ordered the boat with a single and am happy with the performance, unless the boat can plane with one motor you will only go a few miles per hour! i can do that with a kicker. the xl was designed to work with a single motor from the factory. it was the salesman who actually convinced me that a single would work best even though he would have made more money from the sale... i am moving up in size to something that is better for overnighting on.
