The way to be sure there is no water intrusion is to hartford loop the vent
line, this is done by taking the vent hose fron the hull penetration and looping
it upwards before starting down to the gas tank.

vents. I change
them about every year, not necessarily for getting
water in, though I have a friend with an older Four
Winns and he just had it happen with a torrential
sideways rainstorm.

Mine fail from seawater splash corroding and plugging
the flame arrestor screen. I see it by not being able
to fill the gas tank fast enough and will get
splashback up the gas hose line.

The Parkers are low to the water and crashing waves
really splashes them.

There are clamshell covers that can be a belt and
suspenders approach.
