The black prop is a painted stainless steel but it is not as resistant to rust as the polished models. As the paint comes off you will find some rust spots. Cavitation will also cause the paint to be lost. This style prop is a different shape (triangular vs. rounded) than the polished ones, so direct comparisons to like pitch and diameter are not easy. i made the switch from polished to black steel and am very happy with the results.
