I have the same boat and same motor. I have used 87 octane a few time with ethanol and had no problems. I try to use 89 with ethanol most times. We cannot get non ethanol here in NJ at least where I am located anyways.

Yes I have the same problem. The light from my Garmin GPS makes it hard for me to see. I had to face it down towards the ground but I needed to see it for navigation. Maybe I will try the intensity idea next time.
