I have a 1990 18' with 90 Merc 2 stroke and I get exact same performance as you. Mine does not have a T-top though. That's a nice hull.

It just gets in the way for fishing. I mounted a trolling motor to bow.

I have the riptide 80 with 60" shaft and it is perfect even in strong current.

90 merc 2s pushes my 1990 1800 34mph and is fine. Did someone glass up BALLZ transom ? These came from the factory with 20" transoms.

I love my 1990 18 footer. It's a little underpowered with the 90 2 stroke merc, but not too bad. Runs 34mph with 2 people. I am putting tabs on it soon and this will help a lot with staying on plane at low speeds. Fabulous boat I wouldn't get rid of for anything.

Same thing happened to me. I made some out of wood. Don't like them so I'm going to buy some 3/4 starboard and make new ones.
