Well the work has begun on tearing out the floor. I was very surprised to see that the floor is nailed to the stringers with galvanized ring shank nails. It looks like the major floor rot was due to no sealant being used when the T-top was installed. Water just worked its way through the screw holes and completely destroyed the floor and the stringers around the fuel tank. It looks like I will need to tear out the foam also. When I push down on it water squeezes out, besides I need to reglass new stringers on each side. Anyone have any experience in pouring new foam. I know it is a 2 part resin and catalyst but not real sure how efficient and thorough the job would be if I tried to do this by buying the stuff and mixing myself. Stay tuned, I will be getting the rest of the floor out by the end of the weekend.

Wow! Pretty extensive repairs. What year is your boat. I noticed that your fuel tank appears to be farther aft than the one on my 2004 21 se.

Thanks for posting pictures. Keep us updated...

It is a 1993...I thought the tank was farther back also, but that is where Parker put it so I have to assume the engineering was correct. I will put it back in the same place. There are more pics from the rest of this weekend's work.

Looks good but how is the boat blocked?

Better get some bracing in before the hull twists or starts hogging.

Nice work! Will she be going back together same as factory, or will you be making any modifications?
Any issues with the tank?

Plan on putting it back together as from factory...I did entertain the idea of a fish box in the floor up front...You have any cool ideas?

The tank was is great condition..I pumped out 27 gallons of gas that was clear and smelled good. I plan on mixing it in with new gas and burning it in the truck.

The boat is sitting on the bunks on the trailer...I still have the outside stringers intact and the bow cross block is still glassed. I felt it had enough support, but an absolutely open to your thoughts and suggestions from experience.

If you were to put a fish box below deck, you'd have to plumb in a macerator pump to empty it.
And since the boat deck drains to the scuppers, you'd almost surely always have water down in there.
Some people have done it, but I think below deck fish boxes (or 'dry' storage) is more trouble than it is worth on these boats because the hatches almost always leak.

The one cool item that I had on my previous center console was a leaning post.
Way better than a pair of seats.

The cooler below the leaning post was actually used as dry storage.

i would dif. do a fish box in front you could make it simple buy just useing a hand pump
and also make the bilge area bigger !!!! thats just my too cents

Awesome post.............I have a '91 21 se commercial, and my fuel tank is way further back. Thanks for the pics showing stringer locations, I wonder if they changed those at all? I need to run wiring, and bait tank hoses in a few places. Keep up the phots, I love it!. Good Job!
Tommy

I just ordered 10 gallons of resin, 5 gallons of gelcoat, multiple yds of different cloth, Gluvit to seal the tank, new fuel lines, bronze strainer, seacock, pump, thru hulls, etc... I also came across a really nice bait tank made by McKee Custom Boats in the Wilmington area. it is the Pogey Pen with a 42 gallon tank and seat on the front. I need to get someone to make the back rest and I need a 36"-39" L shaped cushion for the seat. I am at the grinding phase and unless I have a few hrs to commit to grinding I have left it alone. Did I mention how much I HATE grinding. With this warm weekend coming up I hate to not tackle some stringer cutting and glassing. I guess it depends on if I can get the grinding done.

Here is the a bait tank like the one I found

That is a really good looking bait tank. 8)

With so many local companies doing pipe work and cushions for the OEM's in NC, it shouldn't be too hard to take that photo and go shopping. :)
Good luck with the grinding!

That is the perfect bait tank set up right there for the 21. Tackle storage on the front of it would be ideal. Get grinding mayn.

Got some time this weekend to work on the boat... removed rails, cleats, etc.., lots of gelcoat grinding, Gluvit Epoxy sealed the tank and cut and dry fit stringers...I really need some 75+ degree weather when I am not at work to get this boat into high gear.

I was hoping to be done by Easter...I really need 3 days of upper 70's when I have no other obligations and can complete the glassing.
