Just pulled the cable from the helm to the engine. i followed it with a length of paracord to guide the new cable to the helm. As i feed the cable through it winds up in my bilge and not following up the starboard side where the cord is going. Any suggestions?

Hard to visualize exactly what you're talking about since I'm unfamiliar with that model, but it sounds like the end of the cable may be getting hung up somewhere and diverted, rather than following the path of the paracord? In that case, try taping the end of the steering cable and 6-8" of the cable to the cord itself, to make a smooth transition without any bumps or snags, before you pull it through.
