Has anyone tried a transom jack on the bracket to fine tune outboard height?

If a transom jack is the same thing as a Jack plate, I have one on my 2320 however I do not have a bracket. Its just installed on the transom and works very well for fine tuning the motor. I did not have it put on, it came that way when I bought it. My first thought was to remove it but later learned its benefits (at least on my setup).
