Hi guys,

im looking to power a parker 2320 with a yamaha 300, but my question is to those that have this setup,... what prop are you guys running for the best MPG / Performance. Don't really care too much about top end speed, but more about mpg and efficiency. I'm also thinking about adding a permatrim as ive read lots of good things from it (keeps bow down).

I've read that a lot of guys who have the yamaha 250 on the 2320 run the mercury 4 blade prop and average around 2+mpg. Not sure if that prop will work the same with the yamaha 300. Looking to see if anyone here has any experience with the best prop setup on the yamaha 300 for these boats.

Thanks!!

I have a 17 pitch 3 blade Yamaha Salt Water Series II on mine. I'm looking for a different prop, I was recommended to go with either a 15 or 13 pitch 4 bladed prop. I run very heavy and the 3 blade/17 isn't giving me great performance.

Fully loaded, 4 hefty guys at about 1000lbs total
Full fuel tank, 137g
Full bait tank 2/3 scoops 65 gallons
70-80lbs of ice

A normal trip is 1.7mpg to either Catalina or San Clemente running between 4000-4500rpms. This is for the whole day in moderate conditions. I've gotten this same number on 3 of 4 trips. On my last trip with multiple guys I stripped the boat of all the extra stuff (probably 100-120lbs of gear/chairs/etc) with probably only 800lbs of guys I got 1.89.
4000rpms is about 24mph, 4200 is 27mph, 4300/4400 about 31mph.

On Monday I ran from Dana Point to Newport and averaged 2.4mpg at 3800-4200rpms on a pretty flat day. This was just me (325), 40 gallons of fuel and 1/2 a bait tank and 10# ice. On Tuesday, same configuration but 30 gallons of fuel in rougher conditions 2.3. On the dana point run I was turning about 3800rpms and 28-29mph GPS speed. WOT was 46mph and a little scary

Based on what I'm seeing the prop choice may be influenced by how much weight you have.

This doesn't answer your question but gives you a little data on a single prop
Two people who have fished on my boat and have either a 2015 or 2007 Parker 2320s with a 250 say the 300 feels faster and comes out of the hole faster than their boat. The 2007 has a 3 blade, the 2015 has a 4 blade merc (don't remember the model). They report the same 1.6-1.8mpg for their fully loaded trip.

Thanks for the reply Djam, theres a group that ive been discussing this topic with on FB, check out pacific northwest parkers. They gave me some really insight on what prop to run with. the 2 popular props are the 3 blade SWSII (what you're currently running) and the 15p OFS4.

are you running with a permatrim? i heard it helps.

heres what another parker owner (Eli) said...
"I have 2 props I run the 15p OFS4 and the 17p SWSII that came with the boat. I have the F300 and my boat had quite a few accessories on it

The OFS4 can get 6000 rpm when light at 47mph, with a heavier load it gets 5700 rpm and 44 mph. A tuna load equivalent weight I got 5600 and 43 mph. Cruising I get 2.6 mpg at 30 mph. All numbers are for flat water

The 17p SWSII prop gets 5900 light at 51 mph and with a heavier load gets 5700 rpm and 47 mph. Cruising at 33mph I get 2.7 mpg on flat water

I have the older OFS4 that had thinner blades, the newer props are thicker and not as efficient. I notice a lot more stem lift from the OFS4 like you'd expect. I try to prop to get at least 5700 rpm

I also have the permatrim and 12x24 trim tabs which help get the motor or of the water more which bumped up my mpg and top speed"
