Finally had work and weather cooperate and ran the 21SE 36 miles SE of Manasquan to some inshore grounds that have been producing nice YFTs for the past couple of weeks. Forecast was for sporty conditions in the early morning glassing off in the afternoon and it was spot on. We got our butts kicked on the way out but conditions improved steadily all day until the ocean was slick calm by the early afternoon. We started the day trolling up big False Albacore on light tackle. After an hour or so of that we set up on a rise w/ bait marks deep and started throwing chunks and live peanuts. Action was not red hot but it was steady all day. We put one 25# YFT in the boat, probably 8 big Albies, and one cow nose ray. The other boat is my buddy Sean on his Sea Craft with a really nice YFT he got on the chunk in the same spot as us.
Best part of the trip was I got to put one of my good friends on his first ever tuna! Forecast is for it to blow all week but as soon as weather subsides I plan to head back out to see if they're still there.
