For those with relatively new 2520 XLs and a single 300, what speeds are you getting at 4K rpm and up? And under what load conditions and motor height? Thanks..

I typically cruise at 4000-4200 rpm, and will usually see 24-25 knots on calm water with minimal breeze. I'll loose 2-3 knots, depending upon the wind and/or sea state. I don't have a lot of gear on the boat, but the fuel tank will range 1/2 - 3/4 full. I'm at the factory-installed motor height & haven't had a reason to consider making any changes.

I have 2510xld w single 300. 4200-4300. Cruising speed 24-26 knots. Can cruise that in 3 foot seas. Top end 5500 rpm. 32-34 knots. Calm water. This is 2015 boat motor.

Thanks guys, new boat and I'm pretty disappointed in the performance and Parker for publishing the data they do. On their site, a 2520 XL is published at 30.5 mph at 4000 rpm and right at 46 at 5700 rpm.

2/3 tank of fuel, 1 person, bottom painted, perhaps 100 lbs of gear, on flat water 30 mph comes in at 4200-4300 rpm and I can just touch 40 mph at 5500 trimmed way up. For comparison, my bottom painted MV 2510 did 30 at 4000 rpm and topped out at 40 with the old OX66 225 though it did have 2* less dead rise.

I realize that any published number are basically not to exceed numbers, and I can understand some delta in performance, just not sure why their test boat did 30.5 at 4000
Rpm and mine does 27.5 at the same rpm.

End rant, I still like the boat...

Up here in AK with my big tides, my speed can very significantly between tides. All else being equal when I am fully loaded, 6 people with camping and cabin building material on board, I can cruise at 30-33 mph when i'm at 4600-4800 rpm. With lighter trips I can do about 30-31mph at 4200-4400 rpm. With any kind of wind, tide or current I can loose a significant amount of speed.
I can't remember if the motor is mounted in the second or third hole from the top. I have a feeling it is in the third hole since I have moved it up once since it was mounted. I also have a notched transom with no bracket. I believe that a bracket can effect the performance of the boat.
My 2520 MVSC has a smaller dead rise than the XL that may make a difference as well.

I top out at 42 mph at 5800 rpm when running light, one person, and full fuel. I have noticed once I get about a half tank fuel out the boat does perform better.

I remember when I had a 225 Yamaha on the back and my hull never got close to the numbers the performance bulletin had for my hull.

I own a 2005 2520xl with a 2016 Yamaha 300 on a bracket. At best, running a SWS2 15.5 x 17 max rpm is around 5300 ranging on load and sea, top end is 38-41mph burning 26.1gph; cruise is 4300 at 28-29mph and 15.5gph. The boat is has bottom paint, Westerbeke 5kw gen set, second station on bulkhead and 12k Webasto AC unit. Looking for suggestions in what prop to get in order to increase my top end rpm and speed, and cruise and keep at or decrease fuel consumption. I have read most of the threads and peoples performance numbers but have not seen anything that is much different than what I am getting besides the higher rpm. My prop has lost some bite and plan on using it as back up.

Has anyone tried...

Ultima4 14.75 x 15?
SWS2 15.5 x 15?

What hole position is the engine mounted?

Would be pumped to keep my top end 41mph+ and cruise at 30 -32mph @ 15.5

Thanks for your time!

I ended up selling the 2016 2520 because it didn't come close to the performance specs published by Parker. I could basically get ~39mph out of it, and the fuel economy wasn't close to what was published.

Ended up trading on a new 2017 2820 with T/300. Much better all around, heavier boat with 2X the HP. With paint, 2 people, fuel and gear I get 2.0 MPG at 30 @ 3400 rpm (better than the 2520MV with single 300) , and 1.7 mpg at 40 mph at 4200rpm on good water (about the economy I was previously getting at 30 mph).
