Anyone running a 15 1/2 X 17P Yamaha SS II on a 2520SL/ F250? I got one for Christmas and replacing the 15X17P Painted Stainless prop that came on the motor. What should I expect? SSII prop looks alot bigger for only 1/2" difference. Cupping is way more agressive and overall much heavier prop.

Currently - loaded with fuel & gear on calm seas with light head wind.

4200rpm = 25mph
5900rpm = 39mph
 
2530 w/ Twin 225s and tower. Rev 4 19's

Top Speed 52 mph @ 6100 RPM
Motor mounted on third hole so moved 2 up. Cruise is between 1.5 and 1.7 mpg with a Bahamas load and speed from 27 to 40 mph.
 
new 23SE w/F200 with the wrong prop! 15 X 19 SWS no t-top

best cruise 3500 RPM - 30-33 MPH - 4.2 MPG flat calm & trimmed out

WOT 5100 RPM - 43-44 MPH after painted bottom was 45 MPH before paint



I know i am over pitched and put in a call into Parker got a message on my answer machine that the proper prop is 13 3/4 or 14 n chg X 17 pitch

anyone have this boat and have prop suggestions with 3 and 4 blades?
 
scratch that last post they(Parker) called me again said 15.25 x 17 SWS is the correct prop!

And my #'s now with painted bottom re as follows

Running a 2320 with a new DF250 Suzuki . Came with a 23x 16; no go, 5k WOT.

Tried a 17x16 , great whol,e shot, max 6200 WOT, seems like the motor is working too hard.

Got a 18.5 x 16, perfect, good hole shot, max WOT 6050 with full load of fuel and one on board, great cruise at 25-30mph between 4050 and 4400 rpm.

Don't have a fuel management system so I can't comment on gph.
 
for the 2320 right around 18 pitch seems to be a good compromise. referring to 3 bladed props, 17p is good when you're real heavy but seems under propped when running light. on the other a 19p is fun and fast when you are running light but sluggish when running heavy.
 
WAY late to the party here but thought i'd add that my 23SE does 40mph @ 5400 with 200HPDI. That was with two guys, maybe 60gal of fuel and without fiddling with trim. Not sure what prop but will get that info soon.
 
2330 (extended cabin), 2 guys aboard, 75 gallons of fuel and probably 500 lbs of misc gear. Sea state was large rollers (6-8 feet) with very little chop. Running with a 10 kt wind at our back, but in the trough of the swell, we posted the following numbers coming home from some fishing on Saturday. Wanted to get more data, but we were racing for home to meet the wife's expectations of return time... :)

RPM: 4,800
SOG(mph): 25.5
GPH: 13.5
MPG: 1.9

RPM: 5,000
SOG: 29.0
GPH: 14.0
MPG: 2.1

RPM: 5,200
SOG: 31.0
GPH: 17.0
MPG: 1.8

Running a 250 Ox66 with 15 pitch PowerTech "OFS3" prop (basically a copy of the stainless Mirage 3-blade prop).

Definitely seems like we are under-propped based on the other numbers I'm seeing here!

WOT 46 mph 5900 easy - 6000 briefly

The best 3 blade prop I've tested. Engine sounds great with this prop. I'm done testing---out.

i've seen the 2320/f250 come with the 15x19 black stainless and also the 15x17 black stainless. yes there is a big difference in handling and performance. IMO a 15 inch 3 blade with very little cup such as the stocks props, do not provide enough blade surface area and blows out more easily than a bigger 3 bld prop.

FWIW the Mirage 15.25x17 which has a fair amount of cup is a great rough wx heavy load prop if you like to cruise 25-28mph. the mirage 15 3/8x18 works for me because it gets me cruising 30+mph. on the left coast of FL you need to cover a lot of water to get to good offshore spots so this prop works for me. rev4 17 works great too. i run heavy so the 19 pitch rev 4 and mirage don't work well for me.

i've had a few boats and have purchased many props over the years from Ken. he is always a pleasure to deal with. if you have ANY issues with the prop whatsoever he will work with you.

that being said, i knew exactly what prop i wanted and found a different vendor online who sold me the prop for $385 which is quite a bit cheaper. but once it arrived at my door, it was mine and not going back.
 
don't remember ............. just make sure you get the one for the 4 stroke. the 2 stroke kit is the same except for the thrust washer. while the 2 stroke thrust washer will work on the 4 stroke, the 4 stroke thrust washer is designed with a flange on the front of it.......sort of a tulip look to it.

all i have is a pic of the 2 stroke thrust washer.

played around with it a bit. got a bunch of plugs with the different size holes. in the end i liked the performance best with all the vents completely plugged.
 
25 SE center console with new F250 (3.3 litre block) running a 15 1/4 x 19 Mercury Mirage wheel WOT 5950rpms at 50 mph. Cruise at 3700 rpms at 30 miles an hour. Anywhere between 3500 and 3700 rpms. is over 4 mpg. with the right seas and wind best was 4.5 mpg.

You have clearly done quite a bit of leg work on the prop issues... I am having some problems, and was wondering if you might be able to lend an idea or two...

ALSO, IF ANY OTHER 2820 OWNERS HAVE HAD SIMILAR ISSUES, OR IDEAS, PLEASE LET ME KNOW...

I used to have a 2520, with 2 stroke, Yamaha 200's. Loved the boat, and never a problem.

I recently bought a NEW, 2820. It has twin, 4 stroke, Yamaha 250's. The props are the stainless, Yamaha, 21-T-15. This boat is much faster and much more efficient than my older 25 footer, but I HAVE SPUN PROPS TWICE IN LESS THAN A YEAR.... WITHOUT HITTING ANYTHING.

I am just now learning about props, and starting to think that I might have the wrong props for this application.

I spoke with PARKER, who told me that I have the proper configuration.
I spoke with YAMAHA, who told me that I have the proper configuration.

If everything is right, then why am I spinning props. I frequently travel 50-70 miles offshore. It is very nice to be able to cruise home at 35-40 mph, and get about 1.5 mph... but it sucks to think I can spin my prop out there, and have to come home at 10mph.

What research do you have (I HOPE YOU HAVE SOMETHING) for the 2820, with the Yamaha 250's and the props I have... I am thinking I need to go with a prop that has the Square Hub Technology -- and won't spin.
