ANCHOR RODE FOR THE CONTINENTAL SHELF?

Can anyone recommend an anchor rode length needed to fish at the continental shelf South of Martha's Vineyard? a friend of mine is outfitting his boat to fish out there. I'm trying to figure out what length you need vs. what will fit in the rope locker. the boat is a Regulator 26. I know the 7-8...

    Bottom paint

If the bracket has a copper paint on it take it down to clean metal, prime with an epoxy primer like Interlux 2000/2001 and paint it with Trilux. Micron is loaded with copper and can eat away at the bracket.

    2006 Parker 2320 Sc Sl suzuki 300

Not to be a wet blanket but insurance companies don't like boats powered over their actual rating plate. I got a hard time insuring a 20' sea Ox years ago. They ended up just charging me more...

    2120 Cracks at Transom

I agree with the thick gelcoat being brittle and cracking. Put a moisture meter on it. If ok reef it out and put a smooth fillet of thickened epoxy over them and touch-up for color.

    NOTICE TO NORTH CAROLINA MARINERS

I just read this in Martime Propulsion: "The Coast Guard is warning mariners of navigation hazards after about 70 cargo containers fell off of a cargo ship Saturday night, about 17 miles off Oregon Inlet, North Carolina. The cargo ship Maersk Shanghai contacted watchstanders at Sector North...

2004 2520XL -repower new, used or sell boat only?

several Yamaha models had issues with corrosion at the thermostat housings (that't what this sounds like) because part of the OEM thermostats are made of copper! Copper and aluminum in close proximity, submerged in hot saltwater is a recipe for disaster! I've seen several repaired with...

Buying a boat with motor corrosion

Yes, an authorized Yamaha tech should know what to look for and has the tools to see it. A Yamaha shop I know recently estimated this work at $2500. but specified what components outside of the exhaust "kit" that would also be replaced as a preventative measure. they don't want the motor coming...

Thinking of buying an older 2530

Decks and fuel tanks would be a concern on a mid 90's Parker. The 2530 is a nice model but you couldn't GIVE me an I/O. repairs (and down time) can be astronomical even with good preventive maintenance.

Buying a boat with motor corrosion

From capt.nick Ask what other parts were checked / replaced during the exhaust work. just because the exhaust was re-worked doesn't mean you're out of the woods with a corroded motor....

    I need some advice

Check me if I'm wrong but those draft numbers are for the boat itself; the gearcase on an outboard will at least double those figures. The boat may float in 10 inches of water but your outboard won't clear. If you really want the 25 Parker put a kicker motor on it to get through the shallows...

    repainting the non skid

IMHO , the easiest way to re-finish non-skid decks is with a complimentary color epoxy paint like Awl-grip with non-skid particles. That way you can break up all that off-white and dress up your boat with a color that is easier to keep clean, and if you ever need to patch or re-paint you can...

Leaking deck to Hull joint 2005 parker 2530

If they're accessible try to tighten the nuts on the inside after you apply sealant to the joint. I've done this on several different makes of boats with good result.

    Fuel fill and vent lines

Brent, tell us those aren't cable ties being used as hose clamps on the gray fuel line!

    SIPHONING FUEL

"You can also siphon from the fuel line. Just disconnect it from the fuel water separator, add some extra hose and run the hose out your drain plug to get it below the tank pickup." You might not be able to do this on newer boats. Most have an anti-siphon valve at the fuel pick-Up atop the tank...

    Stereo Suggestion??

A $200 stereo ain't gonna last long. Buy a good Fusion stereo; they're good units, are specifically made for marine use, and have a 4 year warranty.

What vehicle do I need to tow my 2510

Your F-150 with a V-8 should be fine. Even the ecoboost 6 will do it but that' pushing it. I agree with having good trailer brakes. In general the two biggest factors for towing are wheel base and horsepower. If you got length and horses your good to go. 4WD helps on the ramps too.

    Through hull seacock

That IS a nice backing plate but check me if I'm wrong, it's just as rigid as the fiberglass in the hull, how will it mate up with the hull to spread the load ?
