    Docking

I docked successfully today using a new trick I thought up. First, I back toward the slip stern first because looking aft and seeing which direction the prop is facing makes maneuvering easier. As soon as the transom of the boat gets near the end of the pier, the Admiral (who is standing...

    Docking

I appreciate the humor. It makes me feel better about my own docking skills. Reminder to myself: get duct tape. Two rolls.

    Marina likes and dislikes

I have kept my boat at two different marinas, one high quality and cost, the other much more modest in amenities and cost. The reason I have liked both is not just that both are clean, slips are well built, and the locations convenient; the best quality of both is the way they treat people...

    Docking

Docking must be tough if there is a whole book on it! I feel a little better knowing I'm not the only one that finds it difficult. I'll report back when I've mastered the techniques. Thanks, guys.

    Docking

Thanks for the suggestions. I pull into the slip bow first. The dock is on the starboard and a another boat is on the port with no pilings in between. My worst problem was when the wind was on the port and my boat was halfway in the slip. A gust of wind from the port hit the aft of the...

    Docking

I have a 2520XL with a single engine. I keep it at a marina with floating docks. I know the Parker is sturdy enough to take slamming into the dock, but I am worried about damaging my neighbors boat. There must be a trick or a docking aid that will make docking easy, but I can't think of what...

    Gelcoat repair -- A to Z

Why didn't I think of that? Thanks. I have a Dremel; just got it this year. It might be the most useful tool I own.

    Gelcoat repair -- A to Z

Thanks for the "Lessons in Gelcoat." The pictures make the tehniques perfectly clear. Your timing is excellent since I just botched the outside back of the pilothouse trying to mount some hardware. I used brass screws and they broke off. In my attempts to drill out the screws, I made a...

    Cabin floor drain hole

Now I get it. I have been looking at the boat from the deck. When I look at the Parker fom the dock, the waterline is too high up to be able to drain the anchor locker overboard without risking water going in when waves hit the boat.

    '96 24ft. Parker w/ yamaha 4 stroke

I believe I read about the 225 on a Yamaha site. I found a refrence to it on another site: continuouswave.com/ubb/Forum3/HTML/007668.html The current availability of that model indicates the problem has probbly been solved. It is interesting that, when I bought the boat, the dealer really...

    '96 24ft. Parker w/ yamaha 4 stroke

When I bought my boat, a 2520, it was supposed to have a Yamaha 225. I was told there was a long wait for that size and it was suggested I go to a 250. I did an internet search on the 225 and read that there was a problem with the engine and it was out of production. This was last summer...

    My first picture

We thought about a tent in the cockpit. Admiral and I used to backpack, so I doubt whether Spartan living will be a problem. Of course, now that I am older, I am the one who gets up 15 times a night. I appreciate all the advice on camping out on the Parker. I'll let you know how it goes...

    My first picture

I attached a picture of the "galley." I really is very useful. It has a small refrig., cold water, sink, and a counter which doubles as a platform for the stove. The next project will be to add radar, name, and to find more places for storage. I would really love to spend a night out on the...

    Cabin floor drain hole

I don't uderstand the drain design either, including why the anchor locker does not drain overboard. Has anyone asked Parker about that? I wonder what their answer would be.

    My first picture

This is my first attempt at a picture on a post. This is my boat on the day it was delivered. It is a Parker 2520 in it's pure form... well, almost. It has a canvas cockpit cover added. Inside is the micro-mini kitchenette, and, luxury of all luxuries, a flushable head.
