    FS: Sou'wester 18, Mercury 90 4stroke

Buyer liked (or was ok with) the top in the pictures above. I was going to all original/oem. We'll find a use for it - maybe on that elusive 2100 I'm going to hunt down!

    1801 trim tabs help!

Tabs helped that boat immensely. Highly recommend. You don't always have to fully engage them, a little really goes a long way towards ride quality. In rougher waters, using the tabs helped stay on plane at slower, manageable speed vs having to drop down off plane. Best upgrade I made. Fuel...

    1801 trim tabs help!

Can't advise you on hydraulics vs electric actuator height, but I can say the 18 x 9 certainly throw the bow down at full engagement, almost too much. 12 x 9 would probably be fine.

    1801 trim tabs help!

Besides the holes drilled where Bennett templates put you, this is what I can offer. (Note that my 18 is before the stern boxes came around)

    Parker 18ft, 1800, 1801 with 90hp four stroke outboard

@Sou'wester-18 - Don't mind answering your questions at all, but didn't want to distract from the other topic. Updating this post with more info: 90 Merc 4stroke seems plenty. I've posted some numbers above but here again with detail: Prop is a Turbo 4-blade Stainless 13 1/4 x 16 Jumps on...

    1801 trim tabs help!

As promised, circling back on the Bennett Tabs install. I bought 18x9 hydraulic tabs (amazon - $650 or something). Wow, it changed the hull's performance immensely! Usually use about 1/5 tab down in all conditions and it's great. When needed, albeit rare, dropping the tabs hard makes for a...

    1801 Garmin placement on console

@Sou'wester-18 Wish I could tell you, but it came with the hull upon purchase. What I know is that bigger is better with T-tops! More shade and negligable performance difference compared to smaller Ttop. Here's a full photo The flush mount Garmin looks nice, but like I said, it would be a...

    1801 Garmin placement on console

I'm not sure I would flush mount. The console isn't big enough and the hole would be awful to deal with if you had to. From the Parker website: From local dealer: On my older model (I moved the original compass for aesthetics): Hope that helps. Jim

    1801 gas tank

I have an 1986 Sou'wester 18 but no in hull tank. Must be last year without. Wish I could help. For what it's worth, I was told the first years with fuel tanks had 30 gallon capacities.

    1801 trim tabs help!

I have an 18' with a 90 merc 4s and it jumps the hole with normal load, 2-3 people. Could always be better, (could have a 150hp and it could be better...) but not at all 'a dog'. Getting ready to install Bennett 18x9 tabs so I'll circle back afterwards. Hydraulic. They're in the garage...
