    T-Top Advice

What is a better T_top size for the 2100 SE? 3x5 or 4x6? I am thinking the 3x5 is too small, won't give enough shade. Also, anybody got one of those T-top enclosures? How well do they work? Thanks-

    Starter Problem

OK, thanks for the ideas Dale. Hopefully I can get to work on it Friday. I wanted to go fishing Friday, but that doesn't look too likely now. I am thinking the ignition switch caused the problem. When I got to the dock I turned the key off, nothing happened. Then I noticed I was still in the ON...

    Starter Problem

Hello- I just drove home with my starter engaged. The key apparently did not spring back like it should. Now my starter doesn't work, no noise at all. I checked the one obvious fuse, under the cowling. Its a Yamaha 90HP, 2-stroke. What do you think went bad? Anybody had this experience...

    input on repowering 18

Keep in mind, the older 1800's have a different hull than the newer ones. You definitely have the older one. Its a shallower hull, with a deeper cut in the transom. So you can't always value the experiences of someone with a newer hull. I chickened out on a four-stroke, and repowered with a...

    Trailer with Brakes

Thanks for the info. I'll have to make another trip to the trailer. I thought the connector looked fatter than my 4-pin connector, but maybe I am wrong. Worst case I may have to cut and splice. With this storm coming, there may not be time to order parts.

    Trailer with Brakes

Hello- I have a question about trailer wiring. My friend just bought a boat with trailer brakes. My trailer doesn't have brakes. I need to be able to pull his trailer with my truck. The problem is, it looks like his trailer has a different wiring connector. It seems to be a flat 4-pin connector...

    1990 18' good for Buzzard's Bay?

The old hulls have a deeper, and maybe wider, cutout in the transom. A wake on the stern side will sometimes come over the transom and wet your shoes! Nice boat, but it rides rather rough in choppy seas. Has a wide beam, so its very roomy. I have the '90 model.

    gasoline in the florida keys

In Marathon area these marinas have ethanol-free gas: Burdines Captain Hook's I just rented a boat from FishNFun last month, and they insisted I gas up only at those places. (BTW- I have never had any trouble from running ethanol in my own 90 hp Yamaha 2-stroke.)

    Repowering

Yes, Shorts in DE. I agree with you- the only thing good was the price- I got the Labor Day "cash price". Other than that- well, you know... I may not have your same hull, Pucker. They have made some changes over the years- I Know the current 18's have taller gunnels than mine, and need a...

    Repowering

Yes, I did replace the one gauge, the tach/oil level/tilt gauge. They told me the old one wouldn't work right. I kept the old speed/gas level guage, and it seems to work fine. Any advice on a prop? SS vs. black steel vs. plastic? The saleman at Short's actually advised me against a ss prop...

    Repowering

Well, I finally did it- I repowered. I got a deal on a new 90 hp Yamaha, 2-stroke, just like what I had originally. I took the safe way out, and also the cheapest. It runs just like the old motor, with the old prop on there, but I picked up about 1 mph, now I am up to 34 mph @ 4700 rpm. I am...

    Fuel Leak

My dad had one of those hand drills when I was a kid. he always called it a " bit and brace" or something like that. He never would call it a hand drill, I don't know why. I can't remember what he used it for.

    Fuel Leak

Hello- I have a slight leak around my sending unit on top of my fuel tank. It mostly just leaks when I totally fill the tank. What's the easiest way to fix this problem? I think the cause is a stripped screw hole in the tank, where the sending unit is mounted. I don't mind just removing the...

    Repowering

Correction- My old motor is a 1991- my old signature said 2001. I don't want to give the impression the yammie was only good for 5 years! Actually it still runs well, despite lots of rust. I just figured if I am going to replace it I might as well do it now.

    Who uses Yamalube

I run synthetic 2-stroke oil in my yamaha 90. I like it because the smell is better. I use the Redline oils, it runs $27.50 a gallon. http://www.synlubes.com/redline/twocycleoil.html

    Repowering

Thanks for the replies. The price for the E-tec is $6819, plus $1500 for rigging. Gauges are not included. (?) The Yamaha 90 appears to be the exact same as my old motor. I have the digital gauges, so I assume they will still work, but its a good idea to make sure. Rigging for the yammie is...

    Repowering

Hello Parker Fans- I have an 1801 center console and I am thinking about repowering. The old motor is a Yamaha 90hp 2-stroke. Its been a very reliable motor, with heavy use, other than some bothersome rust problems. (Shift shaft, hydraulics, etc.) Anybody had any experience with the E-tec...
