    What prop / 2120 w/Yamaha F150

what was the top rpm of the props you replaced. Are they still for sale? I am on Long Island in Oakdale. The reliance prop 14 1/2 X 15 should give you 6000 rpm.I believe Parker is now using that prop on the 2120SC 150hp Ray

F150 rough idle and $13,500 later.

Sorry if this was posted twice. Well the corrosion was pretty bad, exhaust cover, head and elsewhere to the point repair was out of the question. Left over F150 was $13,500 with new gauges, controls and installation. Engine was 2005 with 1000 hours and used in salt water but always flushed and...

Well my F150 was corroded internally at the exhaust cover, block and elsewhere to the point repair was out of the question. Left over F150, new controls, gauges and installation....$13,500. Engine was 2005 with 1000 hours and although used in salt water was always flushed and engine anodes...

F150 rough idle solved but was caused by bigger problem

I previously posted the rough idle on my 2005 F150HP .Turns out the exhaust cover at the very base was leaking water and fumes. With the cowling off the idle was fine. With the cowling in place the engine would stall out because the engine would be sucking fumes and not air. Looks like my...

    F150 engine life.

I have a 2005 F150 with 1000 hours on it . Used in salt water but always flushed out with fresh water. It started to leak exhaust gas and water at the very bottom of the exhaust cover. Thinking it is time to replace. Any thoughts on engine life would be appreciated.

    rough idle

I am now thinking the spray and vapor is coming from the very bottom or the exhaust cover. Hopefully from the gasket. The exhaust cover has both the thermostat (water) and PCF valve (vapor). Mechanics looking at it thursday. Ray

    rough idle

I have a bigger problem which may be related to the rough idle. I checked the PCV valve and it looked good. Ran the engine to check for leaks and found water slightly spraying up from below . Put my hand down as far as I could and felt a hole where the water was coming from. Hopefully the...

    rough idle

checked that there were no fuel leaks and after 2 or 3 squeezes the primer bulb is hard and fuel lines are not hard or brittle. Hooked up a small tank with seafoam and followed Dale's post on how to use it. There was with no change and I didn't notice any smoking so I assume the engine was...

    rough idle

well the linkage adjustment didn't work. I took the boat out and was able to get the rpms to 5500. Which is what it was when the engine was new with no hesitation at all. Back at the dock the idle was 700 for a minute an then dropped to 400. So hot or cold didn't matter. Have to get someone to...

    rough idle

filter in front of the engine looked good and the racor fuel water separator was changed in the spring,no water in the see thru bowel. I kind of ruled out fuel filters including the VST as the performance is great with no hesitation other than at idle. I went over the linkages today per the...

    rough idle

First thing I checked were the plugs . Gap was ok with a slight light tan on the ceramic. Runs great otherwise with no hesitation. Wouldn't lean affect performance at other conditions? Thanks for your thoughts. Ray

    rough idle

I have a 2005 F150 with 1000 hrs on it. It starts up quickly and idles smoothly at 700 rpm for a minute or two an then the rpm starts to drop to 400 rpm with the engine starting to shake. If I increase the rpm to 700 while in neutral using the lever on the remote throttle and gear module at the...

Dap silicone sealer OK above the water line

I asked for opinions and don't need Wharthog's type of reply. I have had boats continuously for 55 Years and would never do things slipshod. That is why I asked for opinions. I have also been around long enough to know that sometimes products labeled marine are in name only and can be had in...

Dap silicone sealer OK above the water line

Thanks for the reply. Will do it with marine caulking. As far as wetting out the holes with epoxy has any body used crazy glue. For small holes it may be easier???

Dap silicone sealer OK above the water line

Hi folks. I am in the process of replacing the lenco actuators. The cable thru the transom took a little while as it was bedded in, I believe, 3M 5200. Has anyone used DAP silicone sealer that is used in fish tanks. It's about 1/5 the cost of 3M but more important I think it may be easier to...

Cheaper ring free and yamaha oil filters

Lucky John... for what it is worth ring free only comes in quarts (32 oz), 12 oz, and 3.2 oz. bottles. It doesn't come in pint (16 oz ) bottles. Yamaha customer relations got back to me and said they are going to relable the 3.2 oz bottles to reflect the dillution. Ray

Cheaper ring free and yamaha oil filters

I originally posted this thinking I found a cheap source for ring free. Well my order came today and the 3.2 ounce ring free bottles looked exactly like the quart bottle I still had..."Ring Free Plus Fuel Additive". For the heck of it I checked the small sticker on the back of the bottle and it...

Cheaper ring free and yamaha oil filters

Getting low on ring free and oil filters so I searched the web and found cycleshops were selling ring free with the quarts anywhere from $36 to $40 or about what you would pay at a marine store. However it seems the pricing for the small bottles...3.2 oz are far cheaper per ounce.... 10, 3.2 oz...
