Questions about buying a back up handheld VHF

I fish the gulfstream 60-70 miles out. I have 2 Icom VHF's that are permanent mounts. I also have a New Horizons hand held with built in GPS that is part of my floating ditch bag. The hand held is a backup if the boat goes down and I need to communicate to any boats (or Cost Guard) that...

    2520 XLD

Onthehook....... a little more info on how you plan to use it would be helpfull. Inshore and in bays, single is probably fine. Offshore up to 100 miles is a whole different story. I run offshore as much as weather allows and have twin 250's (for safety not speed) and couldn't be happier.

    Parker 28 100+ miles offshore?

I have a 2018 2510 XLD with twin 250's (for safety not for speed!). On decent days, I run 65 NM miles (sometimes a little further) to the Gulf Stream out of Southport NC. The boat has no problem making that run, a good 200 miles round trip with trolling. I typically burn 100 gal. of gas...

Ordering a new Parker from factory?

I ordered mine Just before Thanksgiving 2017, and got it early August 2018. Had a few "estimated delivery dates" that kept slipping back. Overall, it was a very good experience. Would do it again.

    Ordering a 2120 next week

Another vote for max power........ my last boat (I had it for 34 years), was underpowered. There were a number of times that I wish had a few more horsepower climbing the back of large swells, and once when I almost got t-boned by a guy running on plane in thick fog with no radar. When I...

    Replacing wiper arms?

I had the same problem in the first couple months with my 2018 2510.......... tightened the set screw (allen wrench) where the wiper arm attaches to the wiper motor splined shaft a few times but it kept happening. Finally figured out the insert in the wiper arm that goes over the splined...

Finally got my new 2510 XLD.....

No problem, I completely understand...…… figured I had nothing to lose in offering. Looks like you may be bringing better weather with you. Chances of rain/wind are down starting Saturday. Hope you enjoy the time with family. If you are in the area again and want to go out, give me...

Finally got my new 2510 XLD.....

Thanks guys, appreciate it. Trying to get 20 hrs on it for the breakin and 20 hr service.......... have only been able to use it once because of the horrible weather we have been having. Looks like there may be a weather window coming up for us this weekend so I can get the remaining...

Finally got my new 2510 XLD.....

Hi Folks, Been lurking here several years absorbing all I could to be able to configure my "retirement boat". Moved into our new home in Bolivia NC (SE coastal NC below Southport) Nov 1st 2017 after a move from a small coastal town just south of San Francisco. Ordered the new boat the day...
