1801 CC storage

Like any other boater I'm looking for additional storage. Between the fuel tank and bilge pump compartment is an empty void about 17"W x 27"L. Has anyone utilized this space? Drop in bin and hatch? Even thought about removing the small hatch and use a large one for both. Thoughts? Pictures to follow.

So the drawings I have are for an earlier year and the numbers don't match up where the dividers are but the tape measure says I do have 27".
