What’s up guys my names Tyler. I’m a full time boat mechanic in Maryland and I’m starting this thread to keep track and hopefully learn more about my 1991 Parker 25 pilothouse. I’m joined other forums before for various hobbies and I find them incredibly helpful.
To make a long story short i found This boat while putting around on my fathers John boat in Virginia and saw it sitting in a boat house. I told my dad that’s my next boat! We tied up and talked to the owner, he allowed me to come back with a fresh battery and my tools to check the motors out. Everything was within spec even tho he hadn’t had her out in 4 years. We settled on 10k cash on the trailer and by chance the trailer was in great shape. It made the trip back to Baltimore fine. My old dodge Cummins pulled her fine.

Once we got her back to baltimore it was basically the middle of September. Almost the end of the season for us. I went Through the carbs and maintain on the motors, replace misc things like fuel filters light bulbs and fuel lines. I didn’t even compound and wax it, I just wanted to enjoy it for the next month before I knew i would haul it out and start the project for real. We really did enjoy it. Perfect for a family with small kids as the pilothouse keeps them confined and within eyes reach. Our last boat was a 20 foot center console I completely rebuilt and it became a struggle with two toddlers.

Still trying to figure out the formatting for the site from my phone so forgive me. I added Under gunnel and in cabin LEDs. They were a cheap Amazon purchase but came out fantastic. Me and my oldest son even got a chance to sleep on the boat one night.

Since our shop shuts down for two months in the winter I got a open shop to work on the boat! I found some original Parker rod holders locally that I think complete the look great. I also Added some flood lights up top, a new horn, new antennas and flush mounted my electronics. The smaller 741 garmin will display engine info and fuel economy, while i have a 94sv for gos tracking and depth not flush mounted but hanging.

When I purchased the boat a second station was included but not installed. With these being old mechanical motors it wasn’t worth my time to try and make throttle and shift controls from the rear worth it. But i do Love the second station. So it’s steering only but It will be worth it for trolling and putting around. I used some starboard to make cover plates where the old controls and gauges used to be. I may Fill and paint this console next winter, but it will do fine for now. I also Started the process of removing, sanding, and refinishing all the wood teak on the boat. It will look like new soon!

Then there was smaller items like the stereo. The boat didn’t have one. I changed that with a boss Bluetooth system that I’ve installed on many customers boats. I mounted two large speakers under the gunnels at the pilothouse and one inside at the console. Works and sounds great. While i had Some free time i started Messing around with the buffer. I plan To polish and wax after i compound everything, but it’s turning out great so far. You can clearly see where I’ve stopped

Hi Tyler, welcome to ClassicParker... Looks to me like you got the deal of the century on your 25 Parker, and you're doing some great upgrades! Thank you for the pictures, and I (we?) look forward to seeing all you do to it in the future!

Very nice job. I as well have a 2520 1988. She was sunk on the Rapahanock river in Virginia. The owner had died and the boat sank. I got mine 3 years ago and it took me that long along with finally retiring to get her done. Just finished her up and got new motor installed in December. Put a Suzuki 300 on her as the 225 OX66 was in pretty bad shape and wanted a pretty much new boat anyway. I got her for $2,000. In hind sight they should have paid me maybe. I had to rip out the floors as there was not a hard spot in them and I had to sand the whole boat down as she had barnacles everywhere.. 3 years later I have my dream boat.
Haven't had too much time to enjoy her yet. Just got done the 20 hour break in and service at Christmas time. I live in Ocean City.
Hope to see ya on the water some day. Boat name is "Local Hooker Too". I painted her Gray with white top side

Great story and awesome job on the boat! Like that color!

What did you use to make the hull look so good?
For now just presta ultra cut. It’s a buff compound I used with a presta black wool pad. After i buff The entire boat I’ll go back over it with a polish and then finally a wax to protect it. It hadn’t been washed or waxed in like 5 or 6 years

Can you please expand on the information you are getting from your motors? I have a 1995 200 yamaha that runs great, but I struggle with connecting anything to it for engine info and fuel economy. I assume the fuel data is coming from a paddle wheel or something in your fuel line? Great story and work so far on your new boat! Love the story and love your kids involvement! Here’s to many great trips to come!

You are correct these older motors will not connect to display actually engine conditions. I should Have been more clear. I’ll be installing a garmin GFS 10 fuel sensor to monitor fuel consumption and read it out in the smaller garmin. I’ll also be using that screen for tracking times like max speed, average speed, distance traveled, as well as the benefits of fuel data.

Tyler,
Welcome to Classic Parker. I will be following your projects. You got quite a find. Just a question on your boat trailer, are those five lug rims and 3800 lbs axles?
I have a similar trailer for my 2320 and Im always worried that the trailer is overloaded for my boat.

I successfully installed a Garmin GFS10 sensor as I'm running a 2002 200 hpdi. It took several fill-ups to figure out that the sensor is very accurate and it was a problem of not being able to fill the tank to the same level each time because of trapped fuel in the vent line.

Sanding more teak, finishing more teak, installing more finished teak. Still more brightwork to do! 1D4E0D36-F684-472D-82E1-CDD9A4E42393.jpeg

Thank you! I’m not sure of the axle rating but they are 5 lug. Good to know the garmin gfs is worth the money! Do you have yours tapped into your sending unit wire ?

Thats a beautiful compass!!
Im thinking of replacing mine. I believe its the original. Its okay in the daylight but impossible at night.
