Wondering if anyone has same setup as me? Looking for prop suggestions as my aluminum 3x14x17 is trashed. I have an 1801 Parker CC and can reach 6000 rpm but top speed is 30. This boat is new to me but I’m guessing it should easily hit 35 with that 140hp? My engine sits a bit low and raising it 2 holes this weekend. I will test this prop one more time after raising engine to see what it does. Just wanted to know if anyone else has same setup and what prop they have as well as how their boat responds to hole shot, planing speeds, etc. Thanks fir any suggestions 👍

Engine height and prop issues. Suzuki forum states "Do not consider buying a new prop until you reach 6200 rpm and can see your cavitation/vent plate above the water while planing". I have raised my motor over 3 1/2" and installed a manual jack plate to achieve this. I can reach 6200 rpm just as my engine is tilted and starting to cavitate. My cav plate is 3" above keel. Raising motor with jack plate has now introduced a whole new issue. When reverse is engaged I can SWAMP my boat in seconds as the water from the prop flies over the transom. Will have to build a transom guard, no problem. Just wondering if other 1801 owners have this problem with raising motor to extremes with your Yamaha's? I am running an aluminum 3x14x17 prop that is pretty beat up. Looking to get a Solas HR Titan 3 SS prop. Any ideas welcomed. Thanks

I'm running a 2004 1801 with yami 115 v4 2 stroke, OEM Painted SS 13x17, 30ish gals fuel, 100lbs of gear and just me I can hit 40mph @5700rpm's (conditions permitting). My enging height is at the sweet spot where Parker installed it. No tabs or fin....yet. I've run with a 19 pitch but it slowed me down all around.
Beat up props do hold back a lot!

Looking at your pictures your to high. Where is your level/straight edge on? Should be up against the center of the boat, looks like its sitting on the trailer.

Wow that is great. Thank you for the response. Do you have any idea where your cavitation plate sets with the Kehl of your boat? Are you able to see your cavitation plate planing on top of the water when you are planning?

It sits about 1/2" above the keel if memory serves me right. I thought i had a picture of the plate at plane which was good also. My batteries, oil tank and tool box are in the rear also.

Agree however Suzuki insist that the cav plate runs above water while at plane. I have never been able to get that. I do have another issue of an old fairing block transducer that creates alot of drag due to the fact that it is pretty much in front of the motor and it is cracked and missing edges. Really a drag, literally! Having it removed and glassed tomorrow. We'll see if that helps. I'll keep posted. Thanks again PS I moved my batteries to CC.

Are you talking knots or mph in regards to speed? The 1801 I had would top out at 40 mph with a yamaha 4 stroke 115. Cavitation plate was very close to being even with the keel...maybe just 1/2 inch above the keel. It was a 2018 with the prop supplied by the factory. I would assume with a 140 that boat should top out at 43 or a bit more.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes mph and I figured over 40 with the 140 was not asking too much. I would be happy with 35! Are you reaching 6200 WOT? With your cav plate 1/2” above keel, is your cav plate above waterline while planing? I am considering another factor with drag below with a broken transducer fairing. Removed and glassing over tomorrow. Hope to run it wed/Thur. Will keep posted. Thanks again

Tomc585 Sorry skipped your question about level. Dead center on keel. Was 3/4” above keel and have moved up/up/up and now 3” above! Only reason I continue to raise is chasing the cav plate above waterline at plane. I am now suspect of my transducer fairing throwing water over plate and that might be reason I could never achieve plate above water... I will find out later this week weather permitting 👍 Thanks

OK in a nut shell. I reached 6200 rpm and 31.5 mph last week with engine set way high, 3" above keel. I even had all the drag from the fairing/transducer but motor was way too high and cavitating. So I removed (broken and cracked) fairing/transducer and glassed over the hole. Lowered motor to about 3/4" above keel. Ran motor today and achieved 5800 rpm and 31.5 mph with old beat up aluminum 14x17 prop. I then put on my new Solas HR Titan 3x14x17 SS prop. Reached 5600 rpm and 33.8 mph. Go figure??? Max rpm dropped dropped 200 but speed up almost 2 mpg. My hole shot is not good either. Idle to 4500 rpm is about 9 seconds 19.8 mph. 5000 rpm is 14.5 seconds at 27.4 mph. I'm running NO gear, two guys and half tank of fuel. I know, drop pitch to 15... I also think my throttle linkage is set wrong. There is 1/4" free play when throttle actually engages. Wondering if I'm loosing 1/4" at WOT and also climbing out of the hole it is not engaging but actually a slight delay? Any ideas??? This is an 1801 CC Parker with a 2005 Suzuki DF140 with 2.381 gears. Thanks again for any thoughts.

The lower rpm and increased MPH is probably due to decrease in prop slip, your grabbing more water (thats a good thing).
You also mention long times to reach higher RPMs, this sounds like a delay in getting on plane. You may need to try different methods of trim settings.

Yes Tom I can use my trim tabs as well but was trying to compare apples to apples through this whole engine height escapade. Still feels sluggish and that was with no weight! Wanted to get a 4 blade SS but only found the cheap aluminum ones.

Suzuki insist that the cav plate runs above water while at plane.

Please show me where you got that info.

I call BS.

I've run Hyd jack plates on 2 different boats.....I am familiar with that situation.

I'm pretty positive You are creating your own problem with someones snake oil thoughts. It just occurred to me.....Your thinking of a tunnel hull........and You don't have a tunnel hull.

Ran motor today and achieved 5800 rpm and 31.5 mph with old beat up aluminum 14x17 prop. I then put on my new Solas HR Titan 3x14x17 SS prop. Reached 5600 rpm and 33.8 mph. Go figure???

So...I will start by saying I don't run aftermarket [Read Solas props] I Run a Suzuki Stainless. I've seen props right out of the box be off......"BUT--BUT it's new". Yea and a blade out of align... :)

You may even need a 15 pitch.....Remember the way you said the boat is loaded in testing? Now fill the tank....Put 4 people on it to simulate it loaded down and see what happens

Agree, that is why I was looking for a 4 blade SS prop but they don’t have them for my motor. Now possibly a 15” pitch as stated. Very difficult to find an oem prop. Suzuki website gives a part number and when searching for part, first site shows oem part number Solas! Definitely not happy with this prop.
