In December, ReelTime had the distinct pleasure of fishing with Dr. Mike Mazzilli and his father in law from Front Royal, Va. We departed Lynnhaven Inlet on Sunday 12/17 and Thursday 12/21 at 0630 and had success both days.
This was Mike's initiation to VB & Bay Striper Action, so it was real blast for ReelTime to be able to put him of fish quickly and watch the adrenalin Rush!!! Here's his 1'st fish:
We fished Cape Henry to the 4A. Thanks to ReelTime's large live well and teh crewe's careful handling to fish, we traded up in size and threw back bay slot fish as we moved of to the Ocean side on Sunday.
Sunday was clear and mild with the water temperature around 51 degrees. We used chartruse and white mojo's on wire out the back. Our wwfb lures werea chartruse Tomic out one side and Cripple Aliwiese Spoon out of the other.
Things clicked along and we had several Chinese Fire Drills, which added to the exitement. As rods and lines were worked, the captain had a chance to help out and get in on the action:
Thursday was especially good, because Mike's father in law joined us, who hasn't been out in a while andhe hooked up with a nice school to start the day off right!
Thursday, the birds were working but scattered, as the fish were as well. We continued to pick up and tradeup on a few dinks and as things slowed a bit, we had time to share a few fish stories and technique for rigging and working variours spreads.
Below, Mike picked up another nice one:
Most of the fish on Sunday were working midway on the water column and the fish below was picked up on a Chartruse Cripple Aliweise Spoon:
Both days were very enjoyeable for crew and guests and we headed back to the dock around 11AM with nice catch for the Holiday Tablefare:
All on all, it's been another great week of fishing for both crew and company!
