Help with attaching canvas to gunnel

TIA for help!
Hi guys my 23 center has a three sided enclosure that drops from the T-Top to the gunnel. The bottom is currently secured with twist locks to grommets. Every year I wind up replacing a few after they get stepped. They are also not fun to hit with hands and feet let alone sit on. I'm searching for a better solution. Show me what ya got. current

What about that slide in piping arrangement? I shudder when I see all those holes in the gunwale.
Those are called Keeder Strips. Still lots of holes b because they are screwed down; but, they don't look like a barbed wire fence like the current set up.
