I have 2006 2520 sl which I would like to put a kicker motor on. I have been using the 2006 Yamaha 250 hp for the last 8 years , with a Happy Troller plate on it. Works great I can get down to 1mph if needed. My average speed trolling is 1 1/2 mph.
I fish Lake Huron in the Saginaw Bay area for Walleye.
I haven't had any problems with the 250, it trolls great but I would like to cut down on my fuel costs and wear and tear on the motor. The motor I want to use is a 9.9 high thrust yamaha 25 inch shaft.
The Dealer called me today and said there was no way to mount the motor the way the transom was make. If I were to mount it directly to the transom the motor could not be raised high enough to clear the motor cowl. And if he used a stand off bracket I wouldn't be able to reach the tiller to steer, shift and start.
Any ideas ?

I have a 9.9 transom mounted to my 2520. I bolted on a Garelick bracket. I can sit on my battery box and I have no problems with the tiller handle, although a tiller arm extender would be kind of nice so I could stand up. The Garelick brack allows the motor to move out of the water while on step.

I have the same boat and setup. Motor is 20" I believe. If you search my previous posts, I have pictures. It has a tie bar to the main motor and I have the throttle in the pilothouse.

Seastar make a kicker cable tie bar I thought about using but my engines were to close so I used a twin engine make up tie bar.
These are my engines etec

BRIAN S I would like to see your pictures asap, but cannot find them. Could you give me a direction to find them. The dealer wants to cut out some of the transom .

Ok found the pictures 3 of them but cannot open them.

Thank you for all the help and info Brian S and the group. Went to the Dealer today and we are going to use a Garelick bracket and a Panther Troll Master so I can steer and control the kicker with my fingers.

thank you

lou

I have a 2005 2320 with a yamaha f250 and a yamaha t8 on an armstrong kicker bracket the bolts to the outboard bracket itself. Call armstrong nautical and u can get one from them.
