Power inverters for air conditioning ..how are they powered up or should i ask how many batteries are needed for a 5000 watt inverter? Then how do you maintain the batteries? would really like to do away with generator for power....thanks for your feedback...
 
I'm with Brent. An inverter just won't cut it for A/C. Going by simple math, Watts = Volts x Amps. That means for a 120V system you will need 41.7A in order to get 5000W and that does not account for the inefficiencies of the inverter, so you would probably need closer to 50 amps. That's a lot of amps. I'd stick with the generator.
