Just curious if anyone has swapped the cheap forward cup holders in the SE's with something like a gemlux rod/cup holder combo?

Haven't had a chance to measure but was hoping maybe the cutouts already there for the cheapo cup holders would fit. I'd like to add some functionality up forward there as well as get something proper (stainless) in.

If you're going to add cup rod holders you're going to have to cut bigger holes. The best way to make the hole larger is to find a hole saw that fits in the existing hole to use as a guide and install the hole saw you need for the larger hole over it.

Thanks. Also that video is a gem!!

That is GOLD! Fantastic trick. And a good laugh for the video too.

Actually just popped one out and measured: 3 3/4 inch hole. The gemlux combo holders call for 3 3/8 but I talked to them and they said they should work in the 3 3/4 cutouts as long as they are snugged up good.

I just ordered a set and will update once I get them installed. I got 30 degrees and thinking I'm going to mount them forward so that I can add shade poles later.

You gotta love some of these guys on Youtube... Entertaining, and educational; I wish this hole-saw 'trick' was known to me 50 years ago!

Just got the gemlux installed. Couldn't have been much easier. I was a little worried with the extra play in the hole, but once I cut the notch and snugged it up, no worries. Highly recommend the backing plate and the socket they sell. 80 bucks, but made the job super easy.

Curious how you removed the original cup holders. Mine are not screwed down and it looks the same on yours. Appears to be bonded with 5200 or something similar. I do not want to rip the fiberglass up with the cup holders. Planning to replace with Mate Series model. Thanks for any info you can provide.

Even it were 5200 it could be cut. Segmented razor blades work and it is what I would try first. Wire and a couple of dowels makes for a nice saw. Once you get get under the metal lip or the holder it will conform and slice.

I found someone who was selling their cup holder/rod holders and it was a plug and play and didn’t have to drill that many more holes.

Boat is so much more functional with these in it.

The stainless covers also have the Parker logo to match the rest of the boat.
