Moving on from my Yamaha failure...

Funding is in order, and now I have to pull the trigger. I've got pricing on both the E-Tec 300 with Iconn controls, or a Suzuki 300. Was able to get what I think is good pricing on both, but the Suzuki is about $1000 more.

I don't really have a strong preference other than to move on from Yamaha. My first choice keeps coming up E-Tec, as I like the idea of the low maintenance, nothing to do for 300 hours, but I know there are some reputable guys here that rave about the Suzuki, and I think I can get a 6 year warranty on the Suzuki. It's a tough call, I know/expect that they are both good motors.....

Has anyone put a 300 E-Tec on a 2520XL with 16 degree MV? Or something similar? If so, what prop?

Proximity to a reputable service center should be considered.
On a side note, I think that whole ETEC no service for 3 years is a sales gimmick. Ain't no way I'd use an OB' in saltwater
for three years without any maintenance.

The new etec are 5 year no maintenance 5 year warranty and 500 hour maintence

Looks good. I think those etec look Bad Azz on the back of a pilot house. I'm also putting a 15 HO kicker.

This weekend on the water I found that "if" one could find high octane fuel, it was $0.40 to $0.60 MORE per gallon than std octane. Really makes me question why anyone would ever 're-power' with a big 250hp and up Yam OB that only produces the labeled horsepower when running high octane fuel ... ????????

Around July 4th, the price was $4.55 - $4.80 per gallon at Marathon land based gas stations (2 close by us) and didnt go to a marina

crazy expensive stuff

You're not kidding!
About that same time period, I bought 89 octane on the water for $4.01/gal

4.69 on July 31

Paid $3.41 the other day ;) ... 20-gallons in 4 jerry cans.

That's what I do Dale. I have a 14 gal tank on a hand cart and a couple of 5 gal cans, that I fill up at Costco for $3.35.

We install the oil reservoir under the transom door on the right. Up in the far corner and did a deck fill. I gets some more pics. The mechanic wanted the reservoir away from the bilge.
