Rub rail removal

I get some leakage underneath the rub rail in heavy seas. Previous owner tried calking under the rub rail. I’d like to pull the rub rail off and actually seal the seam and then put the rub rail back on. So the question is, how do I remove the rub rail?

Pull the filler out (chrome metal piece, rubber or rope) there should be screws behind it to get the rest of the rub rail off.
