Greetings,
I am the second owner of a 2002 2510 and noticed the Tempress Slam Hatch lids were tired and dirty looking after 20 years of exposure.
Maybe there is a simple cleaning and polishing to bring these back which I am not aware of.
I opted for a quick refresh with spray epoxy paint.
1. I removed the hatch cover from the base.
2. I used a long thin knife blade to remove the plastic latch from the hatch.
3. I scraped the hatch with a sharp razor blade to clean and fair the faded plastic.
4. I wiped the hatch with denatured alcohol for a final clean.
5. I used Rust-Oleum Epoxy appliance paint in BISCUIT color to paint the hatch; I achieved about 4 to 5 light coats over the course of 30 minutes for a fine, clean look.
Looks good and we'll see how long it lasts.
Any suggestions for improvement?
Thanks!
