    Awesome False Albacore Trip

Looks like a fun trip. Catching is always fun it doesn't matter the species, I would rather catch something, then troll all day for nothing. They look like they fight well too.

What is a reasonable autopilot system?

You are correct. I've only ever done that kind of trolling during our local salmon derby, There were a 100 other boats all fishing on-top of each other. But I will have to find a tether for future trips.

What is a reasonable autopilot system?

I just installed the lorwance hydraulic steering and AP this summer. It worked great at trolling speed. It also will work at cruising speed, but I don't use it to much for cruising to many logs and debris to hit at 30mph. The install was really straight forward, maybe 4hrs. The whole install was...

    King crab

Should be a great trip Ketchikan has some great fishing. The silvers should be running strong, they are doing very well here in Juneau with shore fishing. I understand the tight time tables of the cruise ships only so much time in port each day. Good luck and Enjoy your cruise. Definitely pack a...

    King crab

I can eat about 1/2 of a crab in one to one full crab in a sitting. it really depends on how full and how big they are.

    King crab

Sitka is a great place to go fishing. I'm sure you will find some nice halibut, kings and silvers this time of year.

    2820xld or 2520xld

Its interesting to see some other numbers for the 2520. My 2520MV 99 hull with a Yamaha 300 does fairly well. depending on the sea and load I can do about 28-30mph between 4300 and 4600rmp. My usual fuel burn is 2.0-2.4mpg. Although I was fully loaded with 6 guys and camping gear for a week, and...

Repower cutout transom 2320 pilot house

I have a 2520 and was concerned about wet decks when I was looking at a bracket. I went with a planning surface extension to maximize my floatation at rest and during planning. It was worked great I love my 30” extension for my f300. My scuppers are now a little higher than before. And I use...

    King crab

I feel very lucky especially when we have such great weather, 80, sunny and calm. We fish them with pots in the summer since they are at 300-400 feet deep and scuba dive in the winter. I found them in about 5-10 feet of water last winter.

    New bracket

So I got the boat out again the weekend and had all my electronics working. See photos below, but the bracket has definitely helped me with my fuel efficiency a little bit. Seems like my cruise has increased a few mph’s at the same rpms, I was getting about 2.3-2.5 gph going with the current/...

    Anyone Here Hook a Whale?

I had something similar happen to me a few years ago. I dropped some people off on a beach and took off around the corner. Out of no where a whale breached within 50' of my boat, let me tell you, I was well aware of the event so I stopped. Needless to say my friends on the beach heard this load...

    New bracket

Here is another update: Took the boat out to the cabin this weekend, about 120mile round trip. The boat handles great with the new bracket. It did a great job in a 3-4’ following see on the return and I was able to stay on step in a head sea much better than before the bracket. I still need to...
