I have used Accurate Marine in Bohemia NY. for Yamaha service and have been pleased with their work. I don’t know if they do engine surveys but give them a call and ask for Chip who is the owner. Good luck.

I don’t believe the wood is to contain the foam. On my 2120 I have exposed wood on top of the gas tank. I believe the wood is either a deck support or braces for the gas tank.
