hi guys looking for some advise on repowering a 06 parker 2320 with a Suzuki 300. I'm wondering if the transom bracket can hold this sort of power and weight as the zuke is heavier than the yami 225 that is on it now. and also will it make the boat handle and sit differently in the water with the added weight. or should I go with a 250 with mechanical controls that's less weight.
I just looked at my 2005 2320 and it does say max 300 HP. I got the 250 because when I was at the Suzuki dealership looking for prices they had a 2005 2320 parker. Same as my boat and it said max 250. I cannot believe I didn’t check my boat. Parker May of put 250 max on early 05 model? My boat I bought in April 2006. It was a left over. Dam I’m so piss at my self.

That sucks Marty, but you still got a nice engine for that boat anyway

Check out this post from way back when, it may help. My 2320 is rated for 250hp max and I couldn't figure out why others are rated for 300. I always thought I had a 2006 but according to the HIN I have a 2007. viewtopic.php?f=8&t=10664

What year did the tag say 250 HP max ? I’m still in shock that I made this mistake. I even called Armstrong and ask why my boat says 250 HP. I must of known some boat said 300 HP. Armstrong said it was the torque of the 300 not the weight. What was I thinking? This is the biggest mistake I made - EVER !!!

I can't find the year anywhere on the tag. It does refer to the certification date, which is part of the HIN.

My boat is a 05. Looks like in 06 they changed the HP to 250. All these 2320 are deep V ? Or did they start making mod V ?

My point on the HIN and the tag is that it's based on the hull certification date not the build date or hull year. And according to the above referenced post re: HIN the dates run from Aug 1 - Jul 31 (not the calendar year). So a boat built in 2005 could have a cert date in 2006 and a hull year of 2006. Or not. I have the same issue as you only in reverse (why am I NOT rated for 300hp?).

I don't know if Parker makes a mod-v 2320 but there was a recent post here that said all deep-v models have a flat planing surface on the keel at the transom. Mine has that.

I just painted the hull. Yes, it has a flat hull 3/4 way down. This is what makes parker boat so seaworthy. I can’t complain about my Suzuki 250. I bought it in Delaware- no tax. Installed with cables $17,400. The marina sold my Yamaha 200 HPDI with 2500 hours for $5500. My 2015 Suzuki cost me $11,900. They did a free 100 hour service and replace my gas sending unit - 12 Qt of oil - plugs. All filters all for free because they cut my transducer cable for my fish finder. I like the new white Suzuki motor covers. The black shoes ever mark.

I’ve always understood that the last two digits of the hull identification number identifies what year the vessel is. Please correct me if I’m in correct

That's also my understanding. Technically it represents the hull year (which is not necessarily the manufacture year). And the previous two digits represent the certification year (also not necessarily the manufacture year). I'm only paraphrasing DaleH's post and by no means an expert but he seems quite knowledgeable so I'm going with what he said.

There is a formula for horsepower rating in the Federal Register.

https://www.law.cornell.edu/cfr/text/33/183.53

Probably better discussed by Parker.

I do know the weight and passengers capacities have changed over the years.

I believe our boat’s ratings are 1100 lbs and 14 people. Lol funny to me. That is less than 100 lbs per person

Dwarfs perhaps , 11 of my friends would sink a boat [emoji15]
