Hi all. Im looking at a 92 Parker 2520 SC, MV hull. It has a volvo penta 5.7 GI 260hp. Seems underpowered to me but I have no experience with i/o. Engine is rebuilt with 40hrs. Another question I have is the upkeep on these motors. Crazy expensive?

Thanks Craig

#1 The biggest thing is how they Hog your deck space..... You would never catch me investing in a I/O.

Saltwater cooled motor = rotting the block and cylinder heads out from the inside. Manifolds and risers are always needing changed on fresh or saltwater cooled motors.

They are usually a PITA to work on due to being crammed in a small hole. IE: Like getting to a starter motor.

Oil pans are subsetible to leaking due to rotting out with saltwater in a bilge.

The outdrive should be pulled and Gimbil bearing inspected regularly.

Most people I know that have owned one....Say "Never again."
