You can order the bulkhead mount from Parker they will give u the hinges first 375 plus shipping. Then choose between steering pumps and wheels. The pump has to be the same as the front helm pump. I order a 13.5 destroyer wheel with the suicide knob which is a must. The top mount controls will have to be whatever the motor is and adapters will have to be bought in order to run a single lever dual control. U need a second steer station / auto pilot kit comes with all the fitting and order the right length hydraulic steering hoses. U will also need throttle and gear shifter cables. I probably missing something but u can also check in projects under "ark 2530 renovations". All in all less then $2000

If u have lowrance the auto pilot for outboards is fairly reasonable.

The difference is easier installation for one if choosing fly by wire. There will be no binding or play cuz there's no cables just one powering harness so that would be a great advantage I just don't believe in it yet. Also relatively more expensive. Don't let the rigging intimidate you or bring over a friend that is mechanically confident. I can walk u through all the rigging and take pictures of the way I rig my boat. Works great even with the lowrance network going to the back chartplotter. An additional option when navigating

Thank you for the offer, I may take you up on in it. Do you have a rough idea of cost? Trying to weigh the option of doing it myself vs. having someone else do it.

thank you!

Under $2000 on brand new parts or shop around, possibly eBay? It's all plug and play pretty much. I have all the schematics u will need. I'll compile a list so u guys can check into it for your set up. I run a etec so my controls are different but in actuality the same concept

Here are some of the parts used but not limited to. The prices were not shopped around but can give u an idea. Hopefully this will change your thinking into do it yourself mentally. Before I started I double check everything to make sure I was capable of this task. Here are the products I used. There is a reason for each of them.

Now mind u that 6 control cables and two hydraulic steering hoses where used to with adapters on the control cables for brp controls. I believe this is the best way to go with out converting to fly by wire and most user friendly for other people captaining the boat especial in the instance of an emergency.

Can u post some pics of the seastar throttle and telex shift unit installed... thanks!!!

Nice set up Megabyte, I think I read prior posts that you did that install yourself. How much all in did it cost and how difficult is it?

I procured all of the parts, but I had my dealer do the install during her winter lay-up.
Before delivering everything, I positioned the part and marked it with blue painters tape because I did not want the dealer to put it as far forward as the factory installs them.
I moved the station aft to allow room to sit on the washboard while trolling and tending to my rods.
Do not remember the cost as it was done back in 04 or 05.

Okay here is the ds units and transfer switch.

Mount a smaller wheel on the gunwale itself. Just make sure the wheel doesnt extend past the rubrail. Digital controls will make throttle and shift install easier.. No fiberglass boxes needed on the back of the pilothouse or free standing in the cockpit
