2520 with a Yamaha F250. The cable cover now has a small crack next to the hose clamp on the end near the motor. (The helm must be turned hard to port before you tilt the motor up all the way to avoid pinching the cable cover against the swim step. Last week a guest skipped this step...)

Yes, I understand that the original rigger left everything too short and pinching should not be a possibility if it was rigged right. But it wasn't and now I'm stuck with a cracked cable cover.

How essential is it for this cover to be watertight? Can I cover the crack with that silicone repair tape and call it good? Or do I really have to disconnect all the lines and controls and electrical and etc and thread them through a new cable cover? (I can't just trim the end of the cable cover because the whole enchilada is already too short due to the original rigging job.)

I appreciate all info. Thanks!
John
