Fast Idle - Problem?

My 2004 Yamaha F225 has started to idle at 1100 rpm when out of gear. Up to now idle out og gear was at 600 rpm. My local mechanic replaced (or added?) a small shim or washer to the throttle linkage based on comments from the factory rep. This worked for a short while but the problem has resurfaced. Running at speed is not affected.

Any experience with this? Suggestions?

how old is your throttle cable it could be bad
