I just removed a very messed up feul filter/water seperator from my 2120sc yamaha f150. There is a black nut with one green and one black wire located at the bottom of unit. I think it is part of the fuel management system. It shered off when I went to remove it. Can I leave it unattached for now and install the new unit? Is it just the icon indicator within the fuel management meter in the helm? I cut the wires and taped them off for now. Any ideas folks. Thank you

Green wire is usually a ground. Same with the black. i would think that they keep the filter from causing a boom. I dont have those on mine but thats what those color wires are usually.

Some fuel/water separators contain a sensor to alert you to water in the unit.
Could that be what the wires were connected to?
