Summertime's here and its hot.
The fishing's been pretty good.
Our spring gaffer season is pretty much over. we did see lots of nice quality fish.
there are still a few big ones around but fewer and further between.
A few bailer schools have been found.
Fortunately the wahoo have shown up.
And there are some billfish out there.
Bad Betty released her first billfish of the year about 2 weeks ago.
A 350# blue one hit the left flat- one of my homemade purple & black jet heads with a ballyhoo.
Unfortunately it was 80# leader attached to a TLD 25 strung with 40#. We got lucky and an hour later got the release.
He did get my lure. Such is life.
The day before yesterday we caught a few nice gaffers, 2 wahoo & went 1 for 3 on sails aboard Betty.
We were pretty happy.
Yesterday was a bit harder fishing. We managed one wahoo & a blackfin. Threw back a king. A good billfish bite turned on in the deep but we just couldn't get one hooked. Missed a couple of good bites on quality fish.
That's it for now. Winds coming up this weekend.

Fished yesterday & the day before on Bad Betty.
Fishing is a bit scrappy but you can get a catch.
Wednesday I fished to the southern & managed 3 wahoo and a small dolphin
Yesterday I stayed south & we got 6 dolphin and 2 wahoo.
One of them weighed 48#, earning a citation.
It was great to catch a fish that would not lay flat in the new giant cooler.
We raised a sail yesterday but couldn't get him hooked.
Attached photo of Wednesday's catch.

Went out the other day. Slow Start.
Finally found a wahoo in 25 fathoms.
Worked a pretty edge & found a few dolphin including a 32#.
He fit fine in the box
Not sure a 50 pounder will lie flat
