I am replacing a Yamaha Saltwater with a Mercury Optimax.The control box that came with the Mercury is frozen.I have been told that a lead/pull can be reversed in the Yamaha box and work fine with the Opti and there is no hacking/patching to the dash and no need to spend $325 for the new Merc box.
Two questions:
1) Anyone out there with experience of this,and if so,issues to be concerned about?
2) Naturally the fellow buying my Yamaha has a Mercury control box.Can the same type of reversal be done to use it successfully with the Yamaha?
