Optima batteries?

Well went down to use the boat and batteries dead again and want take a charge Happened last year also my problem is where i park it i have no power to use a maintainer so i picked up a solar trickle charger and was wondering if it is worth paying the extra for the optima blue top batteries they dont have 29's like is in the boat now but its clos to the 31's or 27's. Anyone got an opinion on this any help would be greatly appreciated as two batteries add quite a bit to the year maintinance.

I have had two Optima blue-top batteries in my boat continuously since spring of 2003 and no issues so far.
They stay in the boat all winter, though I did buy a Guest charger/maintainer two years ago and I do plug them in occasionally.

Sounds like you might have something drawing them down.
You don't, by chance, have an 'automatic' bilge pump that runs occasionally trying to sense water do you?

It has a float switch on it not sure if anything is in the pump.

If you have a float switch, you should be OK.

There are some 'automatic' pumps that run occasionally to try and sense water.
If it detects water, it will pump until empty.
Those pumps don't have a float switch.

If something is killing those batteries, you have a current draw somewhere.
