Awesome, I did this today in a awful rocky spot that has owned two of my previous anchors. The Tataug fishing was awesome, and then pulling the anchor was even more exciting. Wire ties popped, and walaa, up she came, no damage. Love this site. Thanks for the diagram.
I made one of these but have not used it yet. I did break a few pieces of rebar when trying to double them over - and that's with heating with a torch. Is the torch a good idea or not? Any metal heads out there?
Second question: Why use cable ties on this anchor? I thought the point was that the "hooks" will staighten out when you pull.
I had a homemade reef anchor, so i hadnt made the one posted, but to answer your question, Do you want to be bending rebar back or rewelding it after every trip. This worked so awesome with simple wire ties. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
