sounder/gps keeps shutting down

Just bought a 21 se, Awesome boat. The previous owner said his gps system would shut down intermittently so I rewired and installed a new one. Now mine is doing the same thing. Stays on for 20-30 min than goes off for a while and comes back on. Any ideas? Its is grounded to a panel under the console.

Had this exact problem with one of my Lowrance HDS units. I was convinced it was my wiring - ended up being the unit. Sent it back and got a new one within 2 weeks.

Could be not getting enough power. Hard wire it to the battery.
