My V8 Explorer is finally giving signs the end is probably near. Curious as to what others think how much tow vehicle would really be needed with my trailer rigged with an Equalizer weight distributing system. I'm in the market for a new vehicle so pricewise, what I'm comfortable with all seem to have tow capacity specs right around 5000 lbs. By my estimates, I'm thinking my rig with the trailer is running close to 5500 lbs ('04 2120 w/ Yam 150 2 stroke). I'm on a dual axle 5 Starr trailer with surge brakes. Since I store my boat local to my marina, I wouldn't need to tow for more than a few miles at a time. The V8 Explorer handled it well rated at 7000 lbs using weight distribution, but they no longer offer it with the same power.
