Anybody heard of cutting in deck fish boxes in a 2520 XLD?? I'm not serious enough yet to contact the factory, but I'm tired of having to tote a Yeti 250 in the middle of the deck to accommodate a good catch. Working around the cooler is a constant obstacle while fishing. If deck boxes are not an option then I'm considering removing the current fish box and live well on the stern to replace with a bigger box. If anyone has history or knowledge on this topic, I'm grateful for any input.

I would be very interested in this project. Up here in the NW, almost everyone wants in-deck boxes, except some hard core Parker owners who wouldn't have them. They like their deck integrity, and I see their point. Because you can't gravity drain the boxes overboard, except into the bilge, which I didn't want to do, this creates a pump out scenario which creates a lot of complications, and holes. My idea was to cut two in deck boxes in, one on each side, not worry about drains or pump out, and just have removable sleeves. I've seen it done before on other brands. Lift the sleeves out, wash off, put back in. Not optimum, but creates good storage for fish, fenders, etc.

I have an old school(1989) 23DVCC Parker Sou Wester that came with a 300 or so qt coffin box located right in front of the center console. It has a through hull drain with screw out plug in the bottom corner. Not sure why Leonard decided to quit putting these in when the design changed but it's a great thing to have when fishing. Also works great for beach chairs, etc when out for a family weekend. With that said, I'm not sure if the current stringer layout would permit for you to install this but it is worth looking into. I have pictures on another post that you can check out. Search Final-lee post about 1988 Parker Sou'Wester Deck and Fuel tank Replacement.

Thanks for the info. Just hung up the phone with the dealership. They are going to look into deck mounted first and ripping out the current 150 ct box & live-well to see how big of a box will work there. I'll report what I find out.

In deck boxes would add considerable cost to do it right, most boaters dont need that capacity. Most boats that have in deck boxes lose the self bailing because they use garbage hatches.

Put fuel tanks outside the stringers, leaves lots of room in the middle for a fish box, seasport does this. They also cost 50% more than a parker.

For 90% of owners, the transom box is a better option.

I plan on forming a slam hatch for an flush deck fish box this is as far as I have got.

Thanks to Firerider on this site for sharing info about custom upfits. I'll be looking for a custom one of these soon. This looks like the best solution to me.
