I have a Yamaha 150 4 stroke on a 21SE. I purchased the boat on 4/08. The engine has 147 hours on it. Whats your opinion about changing the waterpump this spring or waiting till next march 2011? I run the boat in Barnegat Bay NJ and have kickup sand just a couple of times. Run temp is normal and water pressure is good.

Thanks

Steve

I run in Barnegat also. I generally go 3 years before I change it, and don't forget to tilt the engine up down at Tices...

On the one hand.... it will probably be just fine if you wait.

But... what if it isn't? It really is an easy job to do. I've had my water pump run 300 hours and look good.

Somewhere I've read..and I believe... it is best not to let it go for more than 2 years as you may encounter frozen bolts.
