Is the Yamaha exhaust corrosion issue that the 225F 2003-2004 suffered from an issue with newer Yamahas? Was it also a problem in lower horse power engines like the 2008 150's? I'm looking at a boat with the 150 hp now. I had a 225F 2004 Yammy that had the exhaust corrosion repair and later developed a hole in the head due to corrosion. I want to avoid this happening again. Thanks

As far as I know, newer ones are fine. The problem is pinning down the exact serial numbers. SIM says
2002 -2003 http://www.simyamaha.com/category_s/1379.htm

Captnick, no that exhaust problem does not pertain to the motor you are looking at. For one, the problem was associated with motor from 2001-2006 (although only a few 2006). Your motor (the one you are looking at), being the 2 stroke carb motor, was never susceptible to that issue. Mostly just 225-250 and some 200hp 4 stroke motors.

I'm also looking at a pilothouse with a 2015 300 F Yamaha. Have there been issues with the 300 F 2014-2015 I need to know about?

The corrosion issue I have also seen on a couple of 115 motors and 150's. All were four stroke. Most recent was a 2009 f150 with a little under 300hrs and was a trailered boat. I can't see yamaha only using shitty metal in one hp casting...
