yamaha ox66 question

I HAve a 2001 2510 with twin ox66 150's. My question is when I turn the key on the starboard engine the trip gauge and the speed gauge come on. but when I turn just the port enginge on ( with the key on the starboard engine off ) neither the trip or speed gauges come on

So is their a wiring issue or is this normal ?

If it is normal and I want to just run the port engine due I just turn the key on the starboard but do not start it ?

The tack on the port is newer and I am woundering if they missed something when installing it

That's normal, at least my 4 strokes are wired that way.
