    Lenco Trim Tab Upgrade (Again?)

Here's an update. No adverse effects of mounting the 30x9 tabs 12 from centerline. The white-water on top of the anit-ventilation plate is a little disconcerting. But,I think it was always that way... The performance is unbelievable. With the tabs deployed slightly I can actually now trim...

    Swim platform zinc

Looked more carefully after removing zinc. I noticed the hole actually looked as if it had been threaded to accept SS bolt. I Decide to call Armstrong. Their guy suggested to replace as is...Just use a little dab of adhesive sealant around the bolt/thru-hole. Electrical connection to the tub...

    Yamaha waterpump failure rate

Are there standard procedures one uses for RPM control when providing adequate water flow through the muffs. Since a little higher rpm creates considerably more flow than @6-700rpm idle. Seems like upwards of 2000 rpm for a short while wouldn't be a problem? I'm only familiar with the older...

    Bilge Pump Placement

Roger, WILCO. The mockup is essential, thanks Kevin. Allot like soldering two wires together; make a good stable mechanical connection with tinned wires first then a little heat is all you'd really need. Today I completed the disassembly, aka demolition. It's always seems to be three steps...

Chop-Chop nails his 1st tuna of the season!

Searching through posts I found this...I did ok as the season closed. Worst day was 4 hooked, zero boated. Best day, proir to that was a 1.5hr tussle with a ~60" fish and my wife at the helm, using a Penn 850 and an Ugly Schtik. She still contends we had it close enough to the boat for me...

    Bilge Pump Placement

Thanks for the insights on back-ups. But some time ago once I did notice the pump did run dry while the water level was high enough to maintain the float switch switched on. One little tap of the switch, the pump would turn off. Since most all rain water goes out the scuppers and most...

    Bilge Pump Placement

I've look at a few posts on pump'n switch upgrades and for the life of me I can't figure out why my setup is as shown... It may be difficulct to see in the photo; the float switch is lower in the bilge than the pump. :? Is there any rationale for this? I reviewed Megabyte's project...

    Ring Free Alternative

Has anyone heard of folks using this fuel treatment from Lucas Oil? http://www.lucasoil.com/products/displa ... 2&loc=show I'm wondering if it is a viable alternative for our Yammie 4-strokes. The spec sheet seems to indicate it does lots like Ring Free. I spoke with someone who'd been using...

    Lenco Trim Tab Upgrade (Again?)

I think I know the risks thanks to all of you. If I end out going with indoor plumbing as planned then I won't be surprised if I have to go with a bat wing approach or 24x plane to get it right... Unless of course, if I figure a way to install as Dale did, I could likely have this rig rigged ok...

    Lenco Trim Tab Upgrade (Again?)

Thanks Again Jim, You're right I should have enough info. here to pull the trigger...literaly on the drill... :?:  My apologies, I didn't notice the data you previously provided; I was too amp'd up watching the video. If I end out mounting my 30x9 tab like yours, I will end out with...

    Lenco Trim Tab Upgrade (Again?)

Jim, I've viewed it seventeen times already... At the 00:06/7 mark when your foot is in view, the turbulence seems very very close to the motor. Similarly, at 00:19/23 it seems awfully close too. I don't mean to digress but could this turbulence be from the bracket tub? At the 00:28/29 mark...

    Lenco Trim Tab Upgrade (Again?)

Thanks Guys, Dale, I was referring to exactly the two scenarios you described in a quartering sea stern-to and head-on. I think with the tabs placed inboard too much, I'd end out with a tendency to drive the bow down rather than be able to effectively adjust as you described. But your stern-to...

    Swim platform zinc

I looked more carefully myself this afternoon... Indeed, you can see a light colored ring around the edge of the circle. Bet that ain't bare aluminum; it's getting ripped out this week. It will be easy to prep the inside of the tub to make good contact. I suspect the bracket paint should be...

    Lenco Trim Tab Upgrade (Again?)

Here are some pictures to provide perspective of my rig. The total distance from the outer edge of the original tab hinge, measured at the very bottom of the transom, to the garboard drain is 45.5". Initial measurements show, with outer edge of new 30x9 tabs placed ~7" inboard, the actuator...

    Cup Holder replacement

This might be the type you don't care for but they have worked out ok in the cockpit for two years...no accidents yet. I simply replaced one of the 3 through-bolts with a slightly longer one.
