    Considering removing my cabins hatch.

Did it today. Pretty easy project. Hatch came out easy. Beveled outside edge for support, put a waxed piece of plywood under held with bottle jacks and started laying up glass. FYI that lower roof was solid glass and about 7/16" thick. Happy with the decision to do it. Without the hatch and...

    Considering removing my cabins hatch.

In the final stages of a major renovation. One of the last modifications I am considering is removing the square roof hatch in the cabin. My main objective is to create a flat surface that a cushion can be put on for laying on for sunning or relaxing. My daughters and wife dont come out to...

Replacing roof core on early 90s 25'

I just completed the roof recore on my 2520. The roof had some soft spots and I expected just to repair some small sections. But shortly into the removal I decided to remove all the wood. Like others say the roof is made in two parts. One is layed up with the pilothouse itself and has the wood...

    Cover for 2120 sports cabin

Fischers covers in NJ makes a fantastic product. Very heavy canvas with pockets that 2x4's slide into. The best winter cover I've ever seen. He custom sews every one.

2120 bulkhead second station on Long Island

What brand of binnical controls did you use? I wonder if yamaha has dual station controls? Had the morse dual station on my last parker and hated them also.

    New Parker/wood construction.

If you keep the wood dry it will outlive you. But keeping anything on a boat dry 100% of the time is quite a challange. Wood is still popular on new boats because it holds up pretty well for the first 10-20 years. Its a shame more havent gone wood free because there are many excelent composites...

96 Parker 1800 Tank, Stringers, Deck, Console Restoration

I cant tell you exactly where the water got in. But from experience I can tell you its very hard to keep it out. and once in it usually stays in there. It could of come from bilge water wicking up. Anchor locker drain, deck plates, deck bolts.wire and hose openings, improper winter...

    Cabin boats in hot weather...

I find the parker cabins to provide welcome shade and relief from the suns rays on hot days. Some people imagine it to be like an oven or a closed up car but that is not the case at all. Granted if the air is 90 outside it will still be 90 inside so you will need to move the air for more...

New Parker owner maybe need help with decision

Parkers hold their value pretty well. If this hull was in great shape it would be listed with the newer motor for more than 20k. You need to decide how much work you are willing to do to buy at a lower price. Me, I prefer it that way,I love working on boats. But if you dont enjoy it then you...

    WTB:Bunk trailer

Its not too hard to convert a roller trailer to bunks. Something to consider if you get a deal on a used roller trailer.

    Bench Seat/Seat Box mounting (warthog?)

Painted aluminum should be fine in a interior location. There is self etching spray primers made just for aluminum. There is also fiberglass angle sold on e-bay. I think 5200 alone would hold it in place but if you ever wanted to remove it you would have a very tough time.

    Bench Seat/Seat Box mounting (warthog?)

Since its a box with a wide base I dont think its as critical as a pedestal base. There is less leverage with a box. Its doubtful there is a clear void under it for through bolting if you were to attempt it, could be foam filled or a stringer in the way. Toggles may work but I dont think they...

    Deck cracking.

I just removed the deck on a 2520 so I know what you got. Those hairline cracks were superficial on mine because most of the wood under it was still in excellent condition. Mine got soft around the hatches because of failed sealants. If you just sand and paint the cracks will very likely...

Remove and Replacing the Deck Caulk.

I plan to try my Rockwell sonicrafter on seams next time. They make a flexible scraper blade for it that's worth a try. Small stainless wire brush may be good for the left over crumbs.

Remove and Replacing the Deck Caulk.

I have some thoughts on the subject. Silicone is cheap, easy to use,and seals for a few years. Having owned boats for 30+ years I have come to the conclusion that silicone sealants will fail over time and the resulting water intrusion can cause big problems. The 91 project parker I am restoring...
