That's a great idea, however I would not over engineer it. It works great on the hard top, and has little to no reflection back in my eyes. These lights are made to withstand the elements, so I would not worry to much about that. Plus the light will probably fail before the salt gets to it...
I have been a Raymarine fan for 15 years now. I am extremely familiar with all misc. interfaces and parts needed for the install. I also had a lot of parts left over cables seatalk NG parts from my last boat I just sold.
I also think Raymarine is superior. It's all personal preference though...
Yes, the fan does fold up nicely out of the way, and also can be angled from side to side. The fan is a Sirocco II cabin fan, West Marine part number 17744996.

Further down the line, there is a power steering pump. The switch allows you to turn the power steering off incase you need to conserver battery power.
